Residents of Igangan, in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, under the aegis of Igangan Community Development Association have described as untrue the allegations levelled against one of them, a former Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Honourable Tunji Omolewu, popularly known as Janbele, that he allegedly supplied vital information to operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) which assisted them in the raid of the residence of Yoruba agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on July 1, 2021.

This is coming after a blogger in an online publication alleged that Omolewu, betrayed Adeyemo by revealing some of his secrets to DSS which raided his Ibadan residence, killing two of his aides and the arrest of others.

The Chairman of the Community Association, Honourable Segun Okedeji, while speaking with journalists at a press conference held in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, described the action of the blogger as mischievous, callous and wicked on Omolewu and the entire community, stating that residents of the town would forever be grateful to Adeyemo adding that they cannot for whatever reason betray him.

Okedeji explained that the community will not tolerate any act capable of ending its cordial relationship with Adeyemo, who through his assistance liberated Igangan town and the entire zone from the incessant attacks on farmers and residents by armed Fulani herdsmen.

The community leader added that residents of Igangan have undisputed confidence in Omolewu, an ally of Adeyemo for almost three decades without any betrayal tendencies. The development, according to him, is one of several means by some unscrupulous elements to portray the Igangan Community as an ingrate.

He, however, asked the blogger behind the untrue story to retract the online publication that allegedly maligned the character of Omolewu and the entire Igangan community and tender public apology within the next seven days.

Okedeji warned that failure to do that at the expiration of the deadline, the community would be left with no option other than to take legal action against the blogger.
