The highly coveted trophy among the banks in Nigeria has once again be pocketed by the top lender Fidelity Bank Plc. The 2019 victory makes it the fourth time the bank will emerge as champion in the competition. The top lender also made it a double by emerging best in the overall medals table at the end of the games.
The match which has been described as the survival of the fittest reveals what the spirit and the determination of the winning side. The Nmandi Okonkwo boys pull the first trigger by netting the Elumelu boys with a well-taken throw-in, which was well converted but while the boys were still in celebrating mood the UBA benefited from a defensive mix-up to score the equalizer. There were several attempts by both sides, to decide the champion before the match ran into extra time, and possible penalty shoot-out but none could hug the net. Eventually, the match ran into a penalty shoot-out, with both sides wishing for luck to crown their effort.
In the end, the Nmandi boys were more precise, accurate, as they take the kicks to drop all five at the back of the net to defeat the Elumelu’s boys.
