24 Narrowly Escape Death on Third Mainland Bridge

There was an unusual traffic on the third mainland bridge yesterday, one that led to heavy grid lock on the route. The gridlock was cause by two vehicle engulf by fire, no fewer than 24 passengers manage to escape being roasted to death.
The incident occurred at about 8am at Adekunle axis of the Bridge inward Lagos Island causing vehicular movement to be disrupted for hours.
The inferno was said to have engulfed a Volkswagen bus a stationary and a Toyota car. It was gathered that one of the occupants of the fully loaded Volkswagen LT bus noticed the fire which started from the engine while the bus was on motion, and raised alarm, but the driver calmed the occupants and immediately switched off the engine unknown to him it was parked near the stationary car whose driver had gone to source a mechanic.
The Volkswagen bus was heading for CMS from Ikeja while the Toyota car broke down and its owner went in search of a mechanic to fix it, but unfortunately, the inferno had occurred before his returne and all he could do was to start thanking God for his safety and count his losses.
No casualty was recorded, but free flow of traffic was disrupted for hours while it took the intervention of Lagos State Service before the inferno was put under control.
