Nine wedding guests have died in an auto crash on Agbor-Ewohimi Road in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
Ten persons boarded a bus from Benin, the state capital, to Ewatto in Esan Southeast Local Government Area of Edo on Saturday to attend a wedding.
The bus collided head-on with a truck loaded with cement en route the Southeast. One passenger survived the crash, which took place at Ekpon Junction.
Bodies of the dead, mostly indigenes of Ewatto, were deposited at a morgue. The lone survivor, said to be a 15-year-old, was in intensive care.
The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Edo Command, Henry Benemesia, stated that five persons died from the accident on the spot, while others were taken to the hospital.
