The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said its best three candidates in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are Ghanaians.
They are: Master Cecil Tetteh Kumah (first); Master Godfred Aseda Obeng (second) and Miss Afua Manukure Ansah.
They were tops in last year’s examination in which 2,122,844 candidates participated.
The three outstanding students were honoured during examination body’s meeting where Ato Essuman, a Ghanaian professor, was elected WAEC’s 20th chairman.
The election took place during the 69th meeting of council held virtually from March 22 to 26.
A statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Abiodun Adukoju, said Essuman takes over from Mr. Baboucarr Bouy, from The Gambia, for a tenure of three years.
