The lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Olatoye Temitope Sugar, has been reportedly shot in the eye during the ongoing gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Oyo State.
He died after sustaining wounds in his eyes following a shooting by political thugs on Saturday evening at a collation centre in Elesu, Lagelu Local Government Area.
He was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan for medical attention but died shortly afterwards.
The lawmaker was elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2011 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Police Public Relations Officer for Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the matter “has not been officially reported,” but that the command was investigating it.
